THERE ARE A COUPLE OF POINTERS U NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COLLECTION WATCHES & I HAVE SUMMARISED THEM INTO 14 POINTS.............& I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THEM WITH WATCH LOVERS OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS !
BEFORE I GET STARTED I WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS & U DUN HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME.........these are just my 5 cents worth personal experiences & painful lessons after being a watch lover & collector for the past 15 years.............
1)Brands-
Men choose the time pieces on our wrist for many different reasons some do it for prestige & reconition,eg.their friends like a certain brands or bought a certain brands they get influenced or they are exposed to certain brands ever since they are young & now when we are able to afford it we pick up that brand.
BEFORE I GET STARTED I WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS & U DUN HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME.........these are just my 5 cents worth personal experiences & painful lessons after being a watch lover & collector for the past 15 years.............
1)Brands-
Men choose the time pieces on our wrist for many different reasons some do it for prestige & reconition,eg.their friends like a certain brands or bought a certain brands they get influenced or they are exposed to certain brands ever since they are young & now when we are able to afford it we pick up that brand.
So in short we choose the brands that best represent ourselves,our life style or to make a pesonal statement,to tell or show people around u that u have made it(a gold r_lex) ! u r a pilot(Breitli_g) ! u dives ! u r in the law enforcement businese(Sin_ & B&R)! u r a banker(FM) etc etc etc
Every brand out there represents the above mention or have an icon piece & we chose them for our own reasons, most of the time by affordability,taste,design,functions etc which i will be covering later under design & functions
I have grouped the brands according to their level of prestige,horological history, finishing,price,resale value & lastly maintaneous
Standing firmly at the top of the list is none other than Patek & Lange then we have Breguet follow by AP,VC & Blancpain. Next come brands like Rolex,Panerai,FM,GG,DR,Zennith, UN,JLC,IWC,Cartier,Bvlgari etc( in no order of preference)
The lastly group are brands like Breitling,Omega,B&R,Sinn & Tag Heuer that just about round up everything IMHO
